More compact in size than other Helenium cultivars, ‘Bandera’ punches way above its weight due to the number of stems it produces on a plant, each bearing distinctive coneflowers.  Opening dark brick red with petals edged in yellow encircling a bold yellow cone, the flowers fade to a warmer tone as they mature and enlarge, each plant carrying a range of tones.  

Easy to grow in any good, moist but well-drained soil in full sun, ‘Bandera’ is a very versatile plant.  Perfect for bridging the late summer gap that can can occur when early perennials have finished flowering and autumn ones have yet to start, it makes a great addition to any sunny planter adding warmth and depth of colour or combine it with ornamental grasses, Achillea and Symphyotrichum for a naturalistic prairie style theme.
