This clump-forming perennial was previously known as Dicentra. Dark red arching stems hold delicate red heart-shaped flowers above the green deeply divided foliage, during late spring.

Ideally plant in a sheltered spot in partial shade and humus-rich soil where these plants will thrive. Commonly known as Bleeding Heart this is a  fantastic plant to use under shrubs and roses and for the front of your shady beds and borders. 

All parts of this plant are toxic.
