Liatris spicata, commonly known as Button Snakewort, is a clump-forming perennial with a bushy habit. Tall, upright flower spikes bloom violet-blue from top to bottom during late summer.
This plant comes from the moist prairies of North America, it needs a moisture-retentive yet free-draining soil in a sunny situation to thrive in our gardens. A fabulous and interesting plant which is commonly used as a cut flower, it also attracts bees and butterflies making it the perfect choice for wildlife gardens. Liatris is tolerant to the salt laden air of coastal locations.
